Meet the Owner
KayNine Designs Mobile Grooming is owned and operated by Kailey Hinson. Kailey started her grooming career in 2015 when she started a grooming apprenticeship at Petco in Durham, North Carolina. She has worked at various corporate salons, boarding facilities, and privately-owned establishments; but honed her skills when she worked under one of the most skilled groomers in Charlotte. Her mentor focused on teaching her breed-specific cuts, hand-scissoring, and properly prepping a dog for their haircut. Most importantly, she taught her how to develop a loyal clientele and how to properly operate a successful home-based grooming business.
In 2020, Kailey took a break from the grooming industry to navigate the shutdown during COVID. Once businesses started to pick back up, she was introduced to the world of mobile grooming and instantly fell in love with the process. No longer were there barking dogs that did not get along and a foreign environment where dogs had to be in kennels for a majority of the day. Mobile grooming offered a space where she could work one-on-one with her clients all the way through so they did not have to be groomed assembly-line style with other dogs they did not know. In 2023, Kailey dabbled in a few other career paths and found a passion working in the vet field. She never imagined owning her own business, but shortly after, decided to offer a house-call grooming service because she felt there was a lack of service catered to senior pets and dogs that became extremely stressed during the grooming process. KayNine Designs Mobile Grooming was created.
A couple years later, Kailey had a loyal following and wanted to provide a more efficient service for her clients. She was presented with an opportunity to purchase a grooming van with the help of her husband and the Hinson family. Since then, she has been able to grow her business and offer grooming services to a multitude of clients.
